Well, this is an update that I didn’t think I would actually write, if I’m honest. As with my certainty that Lottie was going to be boy, it seems my ‘mother’s intuition’ was totally out with this pregnancy too as I was convinced I wouldn’t make it to full term. Yet here I am, now 40+4 in fact and ready to burst.
Last week I had my 38 week midwife appointment (they couldn’t fit me in at 38 weeks, so I was 39+6 by the time I was seen. All is still fine. Bump was measuring at 41cm, so is on the 90th centile! But other than being rather large, all was fine, the heartbeat was regular and all of my obs were fine.
I am heading to the midwife again tomorrow for everything to be checked and I can start having sweeps if I want to. My dad is actually in hospital on Thursday overnight, so I think I’ll probably leave the sweep for tomorrow and have one on Friday if there is still no arrival. My sister will have Lottie while I am in labour, and she will need to be there for my parents and her daughter on Thursday and Friday, so the timing is all getting a bit tight…
If there is still no baby by 12 days after due date, I’ll be induced, so I’m crossing everything that Sunny puts in an arrival before that.
I’m getting lots and lots of pressure and cramping and Braxton Hicks now. So much so, in fact that I am starting to take less and less notice of it. This birth is likely to be like the boy who cried wolf – I’ll take no notice until the head actually appears.
Sleep is increasingly difficult as I just can’t get comfortable any more. The heartburn and constant need for loo breaks also mean I don’t really sleep for longer than an hour at a time. So I am ready for the newborn sleep deprivation.
My pelvic pain is staying constant, thank goodness and doesn’t seem to be worsening. I struggle to get up from bed of sitting down, but once I get going, it’s bearable.
Oh you poor thing I cannot even begin to imagine how uncomfortable you must be. What a little monkey making you wait. I will keep everything crossed baba makes an appearance soon. Big hugs my love you are so nearly there xx
Oops that sounds stressful! Guessing the baby is here now?! In which case a massive congratulations xxx #blogbumpclub
