Newborn baby haul

What’s cuter than baby clothes? I absolutely love them and am really enjoying getting all the bits ready for Little R-M’s arrival.

As you may know if you read my blog, Mr M and I are currently saving for our new house, so I’ve had to be really careful not to over-shop (not easy) and to try and get the best bargains I can. I’m also trying to get a few bits each month to spread the cost, so that we don’t have a huge outlay in the eighth month.

Back in January, my old favourite Aldi had a baby event, so I headed down there before work on the Thursday that it launched to get the pick of the crop. I must say I’m impressed with the quality of the clothes, they are really soft patterns and super soft.

I’ve also picked up a few bits from Tesco so far and I am lucky enough with my job to have stored up a few bits that I’ve been given as gifts or samples in goody bags.

We also had a nearly new sale in our local function hall called Lots for Tots, where we picked up this John Lewis moses basket and stand for just £15. All the covers etc have been washed and it’s in gorgeous condition.

Part of the Aldi haul included this classic cellular blanket for £2.69; the hooded towel with the cute owl motif for £3.49; and a set of three muslin squares, which I am assured are essentials for new babies, for £3.29 each.

These three sleepsuits were £3.99 for a pack of three. As we don’t know whether we are having a boy or a girl, I’ve chosen the grey or yellow colour ways and these have a cute elephant design on them.

The bodysuits in a similar design were just £2.99 for three.

This pack of body suits are from Tesco and were £6 for five. I love the star design and the stripes – super cute.

Also from Tesco, I could not resist this little hat. It was only £1.50 and I’m planning on Little R-M making its homecoming in this.

A nursery wouldn’t be complete without some toys. The elephant teether on the left of the picture was from Aldi and cost £2.99. You can hang it from the pram or cot, and its bright colours are lovely. Upsy Daisy and Dumbo were freebies from work which I have saved (Dumbo was my favourite as a little girl, so I’m pleased to have this for Little. And the gorgeous bear was a gift from a friend from her recent ski holiday to thank me for looking after her horse – softest teddy ever.

The teething ring and teething blanket were from Aldi for £2.99 each and are pretty well-known respected brands, I think. The cute Tatty Teddy door hanger was another work freebie.

I still have no idea if I will breast or bottle feed at this point, but thought it was worth having some bottles at hand in case. So this box of six Tommee Tippee feeding bottles was from Aldi. I can’t remember how much they were though, I’m afraid.

Finally, you’re never too young for books, are you? Even  if baby can’t understand our stories, I’m pretty sure we’ll still tell them. So Where Oh Where is Huggle Bear was from Aldi for 99pence and the other three, including childhood classic, The Hungry Caterpillar, were freebies through work.

I can’t wait to buy the next bits! What would you recommend I buy next?

I love buying bits for babies. 🙂 Even now rather than go shopping for me, I go and check out whats new or on offer in the children’s section. One thing I bought and really loved was a playmat from Ikea for £25. It meant that my little girl had something soft to lay on and learn rolling, sitting etc on. x
