Bump #2: 31 weeks pregnant

So the countdown of weeks is into single figures already…. let’s be honest, this is all starting to get a bit real now! Nine weeks to go makes things seem really close, and coupled with some really quite intense Braxton Hicks last night, it’s given me another rather large nudge to get organised for our next little bundle.

31 weeks pregnant

I am writing list after list at the moment and wondering how on earth anyone ever manages to have more than two children! The organisation for Lottie alone is like a military operation. But she is my current project.

My sister is kindly going to look after her when the fun starts, but as she is always with me or Mr M, I didn’t realy realise how much there is to think about in order to organise her for more than an afternoon out of the house. My lovely friend Hannah has just sourced a travel cot for us so that she has somewhere to sleep for her little holiday and I’m off to get her a little wheely case this week to pack the endless amount of ‘stuff’ that a toddler needs.

Next on the list is the hospital bags, so any must-haves you’d like to share would be very gratefully received. I’m also looking to get a sling or carrier this time as I think it would make life easier with two, so all recommendations are also welcome.

Symptom wise, it’s been a fairly quiet week until last night. I didn’t experience Braxton Hicks with Lottie, so I did have a few moments of wondering if I was actually going into labour. The pain was different to my labour with Lottie, but she was back-to-back, and I’ve been told that this is a pretty different experience, so I’m not sure what to expect if this little one is the right way around. The BH were like a really intense pressure, which was painful but not on the same scale as my previous contractions. It was more like a really uncomfortable experience that I couldn’t get away from. Fingers crossed they don’t happen too often as I’ll be a bag of nerves if they do!

I think Sunny has moved positions over the last few days as my bump seems to have gone much more out the front, rather than the rounded form it had before. Which puts paid to my theory it may have been a boy because I was carrying so differently to my first pregnancy. Lottie was always out the front, so I thought that was maybe a sign. I guess we just won’t know what it will be til we meet it.

I’m definitely getting noticeably bigger now too and everyday tasks are becoming pretty tiring. To be honest, if I drop something nowadays, it becomes dead to me. Bending down is on an essential items only basis. Climbing the stairs is another seemingly easy activity that is becoming less and less easy and I’m getting out of breath really easily. The trips to the loo are also getting more frequent and disturbing sleep, but I was expecting all of this, so it’s no huge surprise.

I’ve recently found a really nice website called pregnancycalculator.net, which shows you what is happening to your body and how your baby is developing each week. I love seeing how big baby is getting – about three and a half pounds at the moment – and what it is up to. How cute that sunny is now closing its eyes to go to sleep and processing information through all its senses! It’s also starting to take breaths and get its little lungs ready for the outside world.

Making a baby still fascinates me. I’ve seen it once before and I’ve since watched Lottie grow and develop, but I still find it amazing that all of this is going on in my tummy.

Aww this is a lovely update. If you are thinking if using a sling I would recommend a stretchy wrap, I’ve been using one with my 2 month old and it makes juggling 2 kids so much easier. Braxton Hicks are horrible..I hope you don’t get them too often xx #maternitymondays
