Bump #2: 24 weeks pregnant

This week is an exciting one in any pregnancy. 24 weeks is viability week, so if Sunny was born at this point, it would be viable for life. Obviously we would like the baby to stay inside for a while longer if possible, but it’s mad to think that it’s a fully formed baby that could survive in the world from this point. Makes it all seem so close now.

In fairness, that has really cheered up what has been a bit of a miserable pregnancy week this week. I hate doing these updates if I’m just going to moan, as I know how very lucky we are to be this far along in our second pregnancy and I’d hate to sound like a moaning old minnie, but this week has been a tough one.

On Monday, Lottie was exhausted, but was struggling to go down for her morning nap, so I rocked her for about ten minutes. When I put her down, my back was really aching, but I didn’t think much of it. Well by that night, I was hunched up and really struggling with pain from my back, into my bottom and all down my legs.

And to be honest, it hasn’t got much better since. I’ve had the odd reprise from the pain, but on the whole, it’s been constantly painful. Picking up Lottie is a struggle and when Mr M gets home, I could cry with relief. I can’t get comfy in bed, so sleep is a bit scarce too, which I guess doesn’t really help.

If it’s not much better tomorrow, I think it may be a trip to the docs, but if you have any ideas for easing the pain, please do share them with me – I’ll try anything. I’m having lots of baths, which ease it temporarily, but no other ideas really.

In other news, baby is super active still, which is lovely to feel. At night, it’s doing somersaults and I love hying in bed when it’s all quiet and feeling it wiggling around.

My tummy button is nearly popped out already and the linea negra has returned, so I’m feeling well and truly preggers now. Hormones are still raging, by the way, so I’m crying nonstop, but I don’t take much notice of it any more.

Aww love it sounds like sciatica. You need to keep it warm and try to keep moving. It is not nice at all. You poor thing 🙁 it could be the lifting or the baby being in a funny place. Either way it’s not much fun 🙁 big hugs xx

Oh lovely, congratulations for reaching 24 weeks. It is always a relieve to get there. It sounds like you sciatica. I suffered from it throughout my pregnancy with Little Mister H. I found the only thing that really helped was to go to an osteopath. It was amazing. And walking lots helped too, as it loosens everything up. I hope that the pain gets better soon. Hugs Lucy xxxx
