Bump #2: 22 weeks pregnant

I’m late with this post, but I don’t want to miss any, so I’m updating you on last week anyway.

Isn’t it funny that with my first pregnancy, I always knew to the letter how far along I was. Yet this time, I’m always having to check the calendar to see how many weeks I am. My friend asked me today how many weeks I was, and all I could tell her was ‘over half way’. I think being so busy being mum, working from home, etc, etc, that it’s difficult to keep up. I’m also finding that this pregnancy is flying past and am shocked some days by how big bump is getting.

22 weeks pregnant

So we are hurtling towards the third trimester and I think by the time Christmas is over, the baby will be here before we know it.

And it’s true what they say, the second trimester is the best one. I’ve been feeling pretty well again this week. Not tooooo tired and the only other pregnancy related symptom has been the heartburn rearing its ugly head again. I’m really having to avoid eating too much at once or anything spicy now as otherwise I know I’ll be up most of the night with the burn.

I’m not sleeping hugely well for a mixture of reasons including the constant need to pee, and also struggling to get comfortable, but I’m sleeping well in between waking, if that makes sense.

I’m still ridiculously emotional. We had some really good news about my dad’s health on Tuesday and I spent most of the day bursting into tears. In fact it became a bit of a joke in the evening with Mr M, and he ended up wandering past my desk every now and then and just asking ‘still crying?’. It’s almost like the tears are just a physical thing, rather than linked to emotion sometimes.

Baby is now about the size of a grapefruit and it’s definitely showing and taking its toll a little bit physically. I’m getting out of breath really quickly when doing silly things like hoovering the stairs, or walking up a hill, so I’m having to do things a bit slower with little breaks in between.

That’s about it for this week. See you at 23 weeks!
