Bump #2: 20 weeks pregnant

We’re halfway and 20 weeks pregnant now! Hurrah.

And guess what? I’m not going to start this post by moaning about how tired I am. I’ve actually got a few ounces of energy this week and after so long feeling knackered, I feel like a new person. I’ve been sleeping a bit better, waking up for the toilet stops, but getting back to sleep a lot quicker, so I’m sure that helps, but hopefully I’m getting that energy boost that people talk about for the second trimester too. Long may it continue.

The only other symptoms I’ve had is a weird spell of nausea which came out of the blue and lasted all day. As if a little reminder as to how well I actually feel now, compared to the sicky first trimester.

I’ve also had a bit more round ligament pain, so I think baby must be growing and I’m having to stretch to accommodate it again. I always get it when I turn over in bed for some reason, never at any other time of the day, so I can’t really complain. I’ve also got a really achy back, but Lottie is obsessed with practising walking while holding on at the moment, so it’s more likely to be from stooping over her for hours each day than anything else.

The baby has been really active in the evenings, which is lovely to feel, it’s a real wriggler, much more so at this stage than its sister was.

This week we had our 20-week scan too. We had the same sonographer as we had for our 12-week scan and she was absolutely lovely. She was really thorough with all of her measurements and checks, but also explained everything that she was looking at, so we got a full tour of our baby’s body, which was amazing. So far everything looks fine, which is such a relief. Sunny was super wriggly, bouncing around all the time, and apparently has very long legs, so it will probably be a bouncer like its sister.

We decided to have another surprise in terms of gender. I was really tempted to find out this time, whereas I wasn’t with Lottie. But Mr M really doesn’t want to know, so we are sticking with a surprise. So if you were hoping for a gender reveal, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait another 20 weeks with us. But for now, I’ll leave you with a little picture of Sunny…

Aww what a lovely scan pic. It’s really clear. I can’t wait for ours next week I feel like it’s been a long time since 12 weeks and the gender scan doesn’t count because it wouldn’t stay still.
That ligament pain is so weird you’d think everything would have stretched first time but it must go back!!

Thanks lovely! I can’t wait for yours either! The ligament pain is odd – especially as I never had it with Lottie – you’d think if you needed to stretch it would be worse teh first time round! xx
