A very hot week

I’m sure I’m not the only one who will choose this as my word of the week this week:

hot body

Britain had a heatwave this week, and I’m afraid I wasn’t a big fan.

I am not usually one to moan about the summer weather. In fact, I am normally the first to get out of bed on a summer’s day to ride in the early morning sunshine, to make the most of the weather, and I’m the first to leave the office to get out and about with Mr M or friends and enjoy what is usually shortlived sunshine.

But at 35 weeks pregnant that all changed.

In fairness, at the start of the week, I was super pleased to see the sun shining. We attended our good friends’ wedding on Saturday and I was so pleased that she had the weather she had hoped for. The sun shone, it wasn’t too hot and we had the most fabulous day.

Then on Monday it got hotter, but I was in the air conditioned office and could just about cope. On Tuesday, I was working from home. We live in a top floor apartment with skylights in two of the three rooms, which act to create a bit of a greenhouse effect. By lunchtime, I was on a mercy mission to my mum and dad’s house as it was just unbearable.

Wednesday was the super hot day and reached 37 degrees here. By 6pm, I was on our balcony with my feet in a bucket of iced water in tears. I’m not proud of it and am already looking back and laughing, but my feet were like balloons, I couldn’t get cool, couldn’t catch my breath and every local shop had sold out of fans.

I was so pleased to see it would cool a bit for the rest of the week, and it’s been much better, but I have decided that pregnancy and heatwaves DO NOT MIX!

How did you cope with the heat? Or did you love it, like I usually would?

I love the sun, but as I had an early October and an early September baby, I know only too well that heat and pregnancy do not mix! My legs and feet ballooned and I was so hot just sitting – I do empathise, I know just how you’ve been feeling and it’s so uncomfortable. Glad it’s cooled down a little for you now x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

both my kids were August babies so I know very well how you were feeling! I’m hoping it starts to cool off a bit…

Thank you lovely. It’s a shame as I usually worship the sun, but I’m shade hopping right now! Much cooler this week, which is a relief xx
