37 weeks pregnant: Bumpdate

37 weeks

Feeling: I can’t believe I’m 37 weeks pregnant already. Apparently that is classed as full term, which is so exciting. We really haven’t got long left now at all.

This has probably been one of my worst weeks to date health wise. I woke on Tuesday morning feeling dreadful and ended up at an emergency doctor’s appointment. It turns out I had developed a Bartholin cyst and abscess, which had caused me to get a fever. Coupled with quite bad thrush and some rather hot weather, this left me feeling pretty rotten for a few days. I had antibiotics, which have really helped, but I think it takes a bit longer to bounce back when your body is housing a baby as well as everything else.

I’m not sure if it was the fever, but I just could not stop crying on Tuesday, but luckily that has passed, as Mr M was starting to look like he might move out at one point!

On Friday we had some huge movements from Little R-M and I must admit I started to wonder if he or she might be coming early as I was getting quite bad cramping and tightening, but it seemed to pass overnight. I woke up Saturday feeling like I had been hit by a bus and I wonder if my body was telling me to slow down a bit. Good timing if it was as I have now finished work! Woo hoo and by Sunday, was feeling much better.

Other than those few dramatic moments, pregnancy continues much as normal. My swelling is reaching epic proportions and I can’t get most of my bracelets etc on now and am living in flip-flops, but it’s not bothering me or hindering every day life – my extremities just look a bit ugly!

I’m really looking forward to resting a bit now before little one arrives and hopefully for my next bumpdate, I’ll have much more positive reports about how I am feeling. On a positive note, Little R-M is still partying every day and seems to be becoming more active (although that’s probably just because space is running out in there.)

Appointments: Not an appointment as such, but Mr M and I went to our first parentcraft class on Wednesday night. It was for two hours and we learnt so much, it was untrue. I don’t think Mr M was too keen on going and kept asking what on earth they could teach us for two hours.

The lady who took the class used to be a midwife at the hospital we are booked in at, which was useful ans she could tell us how they work there and it was a big relief to find that lots of my birth preferences are carried out as standard there.

We were taught about the different stages of labour, when to go into hopsital, vaginal and non-vaginal deliveries, symptoms, what to look out for pre-labour and lots more. We both actually really enjoyed it and came away feeling much more prepared. We have another one this week ย and then we are all set apparently!

Looking: I think bump is in much the same place this week, but it definitely feels much bigger.

Craving: Strawberry milk is still keeping me going.

Sleeping: Iโ€™m waking on an hourly basis, but that seems to be the norm now.

Baby is as long as: A stalk of Swiss Chard…

Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough week. I don’t miss the constant thrush!
    Happy full term though!
Chocolate milk was my weakness, so good and helped with the heartburn.
