36 weeks pregnant: Bumpdate

36 weeks

Feeling:I feel fairly well at 36 weeks pregnant, considering there are only 4 weeks to go. I’m getting tired and out of breath quicker and my feet are still like balloons, but overall, I’m surprised at how well I have been this week. My back is starting to ache a lot now, but that’s no real surprise with this rather large weight in front of me.

I’m really looking forward to finishing work on Friday as sitting at my desk is a bit uncomfortable and a full week of work is tiring me out a bit now.

Mr M and I are both getting super excited about Little R-M’s arrival now and it’s really starting to feel real. Hopefully he or she will stay in for a while longer yet as we still need to move. I’m also having slight waves of mild panic every now and then – will I know what to do? Will I manage with the lack of sleep? Will we be good parents? etc. But that must be pretty normal the first time around I guess. We are entering the unknown after all!

Little R-M is so active now and its favourite time to party is about 9.30pm while its dad watches on in fascination/horror/delight!

Appointments: I had my 36 week midwife appointment this week and all was fine, blood pressure, Little R-M’s heartbeat, urine etc were all normal. Little R-M is still measuring a little behind at 35cm, but is growing at a steady rate, so the midwife was not concerned.

Looking: Much the same this week, but my tummy button has popped out, so I think I must have grown again.

Craving: Strawberry milk. When I am feeling a bit faint, this seems to really hit the spot and pick me back up again.

Sleeping:I’m still waking on about an hourly basis, but I think I’m getting used to it. I do feel I could do with a nap at about 2pm, so roll on maternity leave.

Baby is the size of: A canary melon

I think the regular waking in the night is to prepare you for baby’s nighttime demands, I know that afternoon nap feeling very well.

It does start to feel particularly real around this stage, doesn’t it?! I got super excited at 37 weeks especially! Ah it’s totally normal to feel a little panicky, first time around and with me, even the second time around. But you will be absolutely fine! It’s such a wonderful time xx

Ah how exciting, when you finish work I bet it’ll feel even more real! I’m still at work too, right up until 37/38 weeks. I’m a little behind you at 32 weeks but our little one has a party at exactly the same time as yours – 9.30pm each night. Lovely updates, I look forward to keeping up with them – good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and delivery! xx
